SIBM Awards

Societa' Italiana di Biologia MarinaIt is a pleasure to announce that the Societa’ Italiana di Biologia Marina (Italian Society of Marine Biology), on proposal of the Benthos Committee, will offer five (5) awards of €500.00 each (25% withholding tax, total net €375.00) to facilitate youth participation in the 4th MSW to be held in Oristano 18–22 May, 2015.

The awards are open to young people enrolled with SIBM, with less than 5 years of graduation, and without a steady job.

For ranking, a scientific committee will take into account the quality of the work (communications and/or poster) presented to the MSW ’15, the graduation mark, the distance between the residence and the congress venue and seniority in SIBM. SIBM favours students who have not receive awards in previous years.

The applications must include:

  • a CV
  • indication of the degree mark
  • date of acceptance to SIBM
  • declaration of having / not having received SIBM awards in previous years
  • home address
  • tax code
  • copy of the abstract(s) to be presented at MSW’15

The completed application form should be sent as a pdf file by 30 March 2015, to:
msw15.sardinia@gmail.com with the subject: MSW_SIMB_AWARDS_YourSurname, once registration and payment for the workshop have been completed. Grants will be provided by the SIBM Secretariat, by bank transfer, after the workshop and after receiving the certificate of participation.

RAC/SPA Grants

RAC_SPAIt is a pleasure to announce that the Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (RAC/SPA), as a partner of the organisation of the 4th Mediterranean Seagrass Workshop, will offer several grants in order to facilitate participation to MSW’15 to be held in Oristano 18–22 May, 2015.

RAC/SPA will cover the attendance (travel, registration and accommodation) of participants from the countries concerned by the MedKeyHabitats project: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Montenegro, Albania and Croatia.

For the ranking, the scientific committee will take into account the position (student, post-doc, fixed position…), the quality of the work (communications and/or poster) presented to MSW’15 and the distance/costs between residence and congress venue.

The applications must include:

  • a CV with indication of last or current position
  • home address
  • copy of the abstract(s) to be presented at MSW’15

One month for abstract submissions

Have you submitted your abstract for Sardinia 2015 yet? Submissions close in one month (12 January, 2015 extended to 30 January!) — seems like plenty of time, no? …but you have to fit Christmas and New Year celebrations in that time too!

Even if you are not ready to send us your soon-to-be-famous seagrass research, you can admire the new website header of the Marine Protected Area Penisola del Sinis – Isola di Mal di Ventre (by Egidio Trainito).
